Kylie Kelce, the wife of retired former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, revealed she had a miscarriage in 2018 and found out on her husband's birthday during the latest episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast released on Thursday (October 2).

Kylie, 33, who said she wanted to share her story for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, had her positive pregnancy test in August 2018, prior to giving birth to her and Jason's four daughters. The couple traveled to London for the Eagles' game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kylie scheduled a 12-week appointment when she returned.

“We made it a point to surprise Jason's mom and dad when we were there by pretending to take a photo and telling them that we were expecting,” Kylie said while choking up. “We surprised Jason's mom [Donna] and dad [Ed] with a video. We also surprised Jason's Aunt Judy and his grandmother, Grandma Mary. When we were in Cleveland, we surprised [Jason’s brother] Travis with little baby booties. All of these interactions were recorded for memory purposes.”

“I emphasize the fact that this still hurts after having four children, because it does. And it's okay,” said Kylie, who would later give birth to daughters Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finnley, 6 months, who was audibly emotional, pausing multiple times.

Kylie then discussed being told about the miscarriage during her doctor's appointment.

“It felt like everything went into slow motion,” she said. “And they could not find the baby on the doppler.”

“I remember being like, ‘Oh, there isn't a heartbeat. You didn't find one because there isn't one,’ ” kylie added. “They estimated that the baby had stopped developing between, I believe it was nine and 10 weeks. Essentially, I had had what you would refer to as a missed miscarriage. It means that your body did not realize that the pregnancy was no longer viable.”

Kylie then revealed that she was told the tragic news on her husband's birthday.

“It was a s----- day because it was Jason's birthday,” Kylie said as she continued to cry. “I called my mom and told her that I couldn't tell Jason because it was his birthday, which seems very silly. It seems very silly because obviously I'm going to tell my husband what happened. And I did. And it was hard for both of us.”

Kylie announced the birth of her fourth daughter in April. Jason Kelce was officially announced to join ESPN in May 2024, two months after announcing his retirement from football.

Jason Kelce is one of the most celebrated players in Eagles history, starting at center in all 193 games of his 13-year NFL career, including the franchise's first of two Super Bowl victories in Super Bowl LII, while being selected as a first-team All-Pro six times (2017-19, 2021-23) and Pro Bowler seven times (2014, 2016, 2019-23).
