Free agent quarterback Carson Wentz is reportedly re-signing with the Minnesota Vikings, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Wentz spent the 2025 seasons with the Vikings and made five starts in the absence of J.J. McCarthy, going 2-3, before suffering a season-ending non-throwing shoulder injury in October. The reported move comes one week after the Vikings signed free agent quarterback Kyler Murray, now having three former first-round picks in their quarterback room.

"Veteran QB Carson Wentz is re-signing with the Vikings, sources tell The Insiders. So Minnesota’s QB room now features three former top-10 picks: Kyler Murray, J.J. McCarthy and Wentz, who played well last season before a shoulder injury," Pelissero wrote on his X account. "The Vikings have used three or more QBs twice in Kevin O'Connell's four seasons, so the plan was to have depth entering 2026. They get it with the return of Carson Wentz, who is entering his 11th NFL season."

Wentz suffered the season-ending injury during the October 23 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, which saw him throw for 144 yards, one touchdown and one interception on 15 of 27, while getting sacked five times. The former No. 2 overall pick threw for 1,216 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions on 110 of 169 passing in 2025.
