Actor and writer Michael Patrick, who appeared on an episode of Game of Thrones in Season 6, has died at the age of 35 while in hospice care in his native Ireland following a battle with Motor Neuron Disease (MND), his wife, Naomi Sheehan, announced in a joint Instagram post.

"Last night, Mick sadly passed away in the Northern Ireland Hospice," Sheehan wrote. "He was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease 1st February 2023 He was admitted 10 days ago and was cared for by the incredible team there. He passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends.

"Words can’t describe how broken-hearted we are. It’s been said more than once that Mick was an inspiration to everyone who was privileged enough to come into contact with him, not just in the past few years during his illness but in every day of his life. He lived a life as full as any human can live. Joy, abundance of spirit, infectious laughter. A titan of a ginger haired man."

MND is a neurological disorder that destroys motor neurons, which are "a group of progressive neurological disorders that destroy motor neurons, the cells that control skeletal muscle activity such as walking, breathing, speaking, and swallowing," according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Patrick appeared on the Season 6 episode of Game of Thrones titled 'The Broken Man,' playing a Wildling rioter, according to his IMDb page.

The Irish actor also appeared in several Shakespeare productions, as well as the television shows Blue Lights, This Town, Blasts from the Pst, and The Spectacular, with his final role coming in the 2025 German TV movie Mordlichtern- Tod auf den Färöer Inseln. Patrick also co-wrote the BBC series My Left Nut, based on his personal experience fearing he had testicular cancer as a teenager.
