President Donald Trump expressed readiness to assist Russia following the death of a lab worker from a potential plague exposure. The incident occurred at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute in Siberia, where the worker died under undisclosed circumstances. Russian authorities initially reported the death as plague-related but later attributed it to pneumonia. Nearly 200 individuals have been quarantined due to possible exposure.

Before departing for a rally in Nebraska, President Trump addressed reporters at the White House on Monday (October 5), stating, "We're looking at it very strongly," and offering U.S. assistance if needed. He described the microbes involved as having grown stronger, akin to an army, and assured that the U.S. would help any nation facing such a problem.

According to USA TODAY, Trump emphasized the U.S.'s willingness to support Russia in combating the outbreak of pneumonic plague. Meanwhile, U.S. officials, including those from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the State Department, are seeking more details about the situation to assess any potential threat to the United States.

Reuters reported that the Trump administration is closely monitoring developments in Russia. The evolving situation has prompted various U.S. agencies to collaborate in gathering information about the reported death and the subsequent quarantines in Siberia.

The incident has raised concerns internationally, and the U.S. is prepared to offer assistance while continuing to evaluate the situation's implications.
