Lindsay Clancy is set to appear in a Massachusetts courtroom today, as the court considers whether she will face a retrial for the alleged murder of her three children. Clancy's initial trial ended in a mistrial in September after the jury was deadlocked, with an 11-1 split in favor of acquittal, according to WCVB.

The defense argues that Clancy, who killed her children in 2023, was suffering from postpartum psychosis and should not be held criminally responsible. Her lawyer, Kevin Reddington, is pushing for the charges to be dismissed, citing double jeopardy, which prevents a person from being tried twice for the same crime. However, prosecutors contend that double jeopardy does not apply in this case, as the mistrial was declared due to a deadlocked jury, according to the BBC.

Judge William Sullivan will hear arguments on several motions today, including the defense's request to dismiss the charges and the prosecution's motion to prevent attorneys from speaking publicly about the case. Legal experts, such as Heather Cucolo, believe the judge will likely set a date for a retrial, as reported by WBUR.

The prosecution, led by District Attorney Tim Cruz, has not yet announced whether they will pursue a second trial, but they have expressed a desire to seek justice for Clancy's children. The outcome of today's hearing could determine the next steps in this high-profile case.
