A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at a Spirit Halloween store in Fairfield, California. The incident occurred on Friday night (October 30) at Solano Town Center, where the suspect allegedly opened fire, killing a pregnant woman and injuring six others. According to ABC7 News, the victim was 31-year-old Constance Hages, a pregnant mother of four.

Police identified the suspect through surveillance video with the help of a school resource officer. The teen was arrested on Monday (November 2) after a SWAT operation at his home in Suisun City, as reported by KCRA. Fairfield Police Chief Dan Marshall stated that the suspect had previously faced charges for a separate shooting incident last year.

The suspect allegedly targeted a specific individual in the store, leading to the shooting that also wounded six others, including a 16-year-old boy and two men aged 19 and 32, who remain hospitalized. The 19-year-old is in critical condition, while the others are stable. Two additional victims, a 19-year-old and a 43-year-old, were treated and released from the hospital.

Marshall expressed concern over the lack of accountability for youth offenders, stating, "This event shouldn’t have even occurred." The Solano County District Attorney's Office will decide if the suspect will face a double-murder charge for the deaths of Hages and her unborn child, according to NBC News.

The investigation is ongoing, and police believe the shooter acted alone but are still examining if others were involved.
