A shooting at the Citibank office complex in Tampa, Florida left a woman and the suspected gunman dead on Wednesday (November 4), according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said the incident began around 12:11 p.m. when a gunman drove his car into a courtyard where people were eating lunch, then opened fire with a rifle, killing a woman.

The gunman then entered the building's cafeteria, where a security guard confronted him and exchanged gunfire, fatally shooting the suspect. Chief Deputy Frank Losat of the sheriff’s office stated, "Was there a potential for further violence? Absolutely. So kudos to that security guard."

The names of the woman and the suspect have not been released.

Four other people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, though officials did not immediately specify if they had been shot or injured by the vehicle. The attack caused panic among workers, with witnesses recalling chaos as the car crashed and shots rang out.

The Citibank campus, which houses about 3,200 employees in four three-story buildings, was placed on lockdown while over 360 deputies cleared each building and reunited workers with their families.

Sheriff Chad Chronister posted on social media that authorities believe this was a targeted incident, though no motive has been confirmed. Citigroup said it was cooperating with law enforcement during the investigation.
