The House Oversight Committee is set to depose Richard Kahn, the longtime accountant of Jeffrey Epstein, on Wednesday (March 11). This deposition could reveal how Epstein managed his multimillion-dollar fortune. Kahn, who served as Epstein's accountant for over a decade, is alleged by some of Epstein's victims to have played a crucial role in creating the financial infrastructure that enabled Epstein's crimes.

Kahn has consistently denied any wrongdoing, stating he was unaware of Epstein's criminal activities while serving as his accountant. The closed-door deposition, a recording of which is expected to be released by the committee, could provide insights into how Epstein funded his lavish lifestyle and facilitated payments to his victims.

Kahn began working for Epstein in the mid-2000s and continued until Epstein's death in 2019. He and Epstein's lawyer, Darren Indyke, served as co-executors of Epstein's will. Kahn was also set to receive $25 million from Epstein, according to documents from the Department of Justice.

The House Oversight Committee, led by Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, is particularly interested in understanding how Epstein accumulated his wealth. Comer noted that records indicate at least 64 entities were affiliated with Epstein. Despite the allegations, Kahn has not been charged with any crimes.

Kahn and Indyke recently settled a class-action lawsuit filed by Epstein's victims for at least $25 million, without admitting any wrongdoing. This settlement, pending approval by a federal judge, will be paid through Epstein's trust.

The deposition of Kahn is part of an ongoing investigation into Epstein's financial dealings and the role of his associates. The committee has previously deposed other high-profile figures, including former President Bill Clinton and billionaire Leslie Wexner.

Kahn's attorney, Daniel Ruzumna, declined to comment ahead of the deposition. The committee's investigation continues to explore the complex web of bank accounts and shell companies that comprised Epstein's fortune.
